THE TRADITON OF ARABIAN SHOWS:
Bedouin tribes of the desert selected and developed the Arabian steed with strength, courage and the stamina required for survival and for speed and responsiveness so it is understandable that Arabian horse shows offer such variety of classes. To list the class variety here would take many, many lines of type so let it suffice to say - imagine a class and it probably exists!
Arabian horses excel at a wide variety of activities popular today and are excellent on the trail as well as in the show ring. Arabian Horse shows offer classes in English and western pleasure, cutting and reining, even jumping and dressage provide opportunities for fun and enjoyment at both all-Arabian events and open breed shows alike. This breed also excels in endurance competition and racing is another sport becoming more and more popular. Shows are numerous and are managed at national and regional as well as local levels.
As the oldest of all the light breeds and foundation stock of most, the Arabian is unique. This breed is different in that it does not exist as a result of selective breeding, where it was necessary to establish a registry prior to the development of the breed, but was a breed that was recognized for thousands of years and had been maintained and cherished in its purity over those years as much as is humanly possible. Also, Arabians' Bedouin heritage is evident in their ability to bond with humans, making them a lovely horse for family members of all ages.
The following are classes offered at many Arabian horse shows : Park, English Pleasure, Western Pleasure, Hunter Jumper, Dressage, Halter and In-Hand, Working Cow, Cutting, Reining, Ranch classes, Arabian Sport Horse classes and Driving Classes. At many shows, Trail and Western Youth Rider are offered, and Saddle and Hunt Seat Equitation classes, In hand and Showmanship. A favorite at many Arab horse shows is the native costume class that honors the history and mystique of all Arabian horses.
